Southern gentleman J.C.
Kester
from Royalty, TX, is already a tried and true open wheel racer, but
driving a race car is only one of his many talents. Throughout his 21
years, J.C. has been a consistent winner on and off the track. Class
valedictorian of his high school, he is now entering his third year as
an engineering student at Texas A & M University.
Energetic, focused,
and totally committed, Texas-born Jeffery Campbell Kester, or “J.C.” as
his family calls him, is proactively collaborating with Driver Coach,
renowned Le Mans, Daytona and IMSA
winner, Davy Jones. This dynamic team is on the fast track to take
J.C.’s driving career to the next level.
While attending high school, J.C. raced shifter karts in Odessa. He learned to combine smarts with
skills and quickly won several kart races in a local 80 cc class.
Advancing on to the IKF Road Racing Series, a regional competition
around Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas, J.C. posted a winning
season in the 80 cc division, allowing him to move up to the 125 cc
class where he won two regional championships. He later scored two
national titles in the IKF Road Race Grand Nationals. To date, J.C.’s
proudest racing achievements took place in the International Karting
Federation: in a single weekend, he won a national title, secured the
“Expert Shifter Driver” classification, and won two “Duffy” awards― the
highest IKF honor.
In addition to seven
years of karting experience, J.C. competed in two SKUSA Sprint Nationals
in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in 2006, moved up to Formula SCCA (Formula
Enterprise) where he continues to develop his open wheel driving skills.
In his first SCCA race at Motorsports Ranch, despite freezing rain and a
slippery track, J.C. not only won his class but proved that he has the
natural talent and driver instincts to perform even in the worst
conditions.
During his first
season in a Formula E race car, J.C. won three national races and four
regional races. He secured second place finishes four times, twice
finished in 3rd
place,
qualified twice on the pole and, ever consistent, had always finished
within the top five positions.
At Texas A & M, J.C. drives for the university’s Formula SAE Team
while maintaining an impressive GPA. As President of the Texas A & M
chapter for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), he assists in
designing and building prototype race cars with fellow engineering
students. Entering their own formula race car, the Texas A & M students
compete in annual race events against participating universities from
around the world.
J.C. is well on his way to competing in the Indy Car Series in
the near future. On his way to
fulfilling a lifetime goal to win the Indy 500, J.C.’s past
accomplishments will ensure that this intelligent, talented and
determined southern gentleman continues his race to the top.
